What I Do
As a Finance graduate with prior experience working with Technology and Information Systems, I work between core Operations and Risk Management to collaborate with in-house business users to automate and improve lengthy or outdated processes within their core functions. The goal is to align their departments’ strategy with the businesses strategy while identifying risk issues from vulnerabilities and developing controls to mitigate them.
By helping departmental users optimize their core activities and deliverables, I collaborate with them to ensure that we create the best solutions that fit our needs which can then be adopted to deliver bottom line results for the business.
Typical Workday Life
A typical workday involves research, conceptualizing, creating designs, scripting software, investigating issues, reporting and brainstorming meetings. Though there are numerous challenges and super high expectations that I have to meet up to, I rely on the diversity of my teammates, the vast industry experience of my managers and my mix of extensive education and experience to achieve progress.
In the few months I joined CrusaderSterling Pensions; it has offered me opportunities for cross experience across multiple business units that has given me extensive knowledge about an industry I was vaguely familiar with, plus a good landing into the financial services industry.
The one thing that often drives me is that creativity takes courage to think differently and even make mistakes; but clearly, the significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we encountered them.
